Well, you should all know by now that I have closed my location at 524 South Main Street. It may seem sudden, but I had been thinking about it for a long time. After American Apparel, Broken Arrow, and Pat Halloran's Art Attack closed, a *mystery tenant* took over their spaces and, my landlords told me, they had interest in mine. Although my lease was to run through October of 2017, the new business signed on to take over once it was up AND expressed that they may want my shop early. I have known this for months, and was thinking of the best way to proceed.
I have really loved being in the neighborhood: getting to know the other business owners, walking to the post office on BB King to see my favorite ladies who always took care of my packages, meeting both locals and tourists, ducking into Earnestine's for a cold beer after closing the shop when I really needed it, and spotting my products in the wild. It was always a wonderful surprise to be away from my shop and walking the dog only to run across someone walking a dog wearing one of my collars and leashes. Or when people would bring their dogs by the shop for a treat. Or the time I saw one of my clients in RSVP with her husband wearing the tie she bought him. Or staying open on Christmas Eve to a flurry of customers who chose my shop and the products I designed to buy and take to their loved ones. THAT was a great day, and it stayed with me to know that I would be a part of SO many celebrations the next day.
Clearly, from that last paragraph, it was a hard decision to make. Yet, I believe it was the right one for me now. I learned a lot and I believe in the neighborhood. It could be that I find another space in South Main and reopen in a few months, or you could find me sharing space with another retailer in Midtown, but at the moment I am not making any sudden moves. Keep following my Facebook and Instagram for updates, pop ups, and promos. Please don't forget that you can always email or call me if you need anything!
Thanks for a great couple of months. I'll be taking a vacation...more on that later.
*The mystery tenant has now been revealed as a Memphis Escape Room, and I wish them the best!
