Hello all! I kept one of my promises: I opened on October 21 for River Arts Fest. The one that fell away was posting weekly about progress, but things started moving so fast near the end that there was no time. The photo on the left was taken September 16, 2016 and the one on the right was taken October 21, 2016. That's exactly 5 weeks to make this total transformation and open the doors. A friend of mine was waiting on some car repairs and looking for something to do, so I figured it would be a perfect time to check out the thrift stores on Summer Ave. I didn't want to go alone, and I had someone captive, so it worked out for both of us. After some unsuccessful antique hunting, I decided to turn my efforts toward my parents' house. There are numerous sheds and cabins, and my father has never thrown away anything, so I went out to the far reaches of Shelby county to do some digging. I feel fortunate the roof didn't collapse on me in this one. I did leave with a 1983 Care Bear cup from Pizza Hut and a Memphis State University (not U of M) beer coozie. No luck other than that. It is on day 3 of rain. Boring rain. Constant drizzle. Not even a thunder clap or lightning bolt to liven up things.
